Mazda vehicles were notorious for automatic transmission problems in the early 2000s, especially the 626, Millenia, and MPV models. From 2005 to 2020, Mazda automatic transmissions in Mazda 3, 5, 6, CX-7, and CX-9 have been very reliable with few transmission issues.
Cons: The way the skyactiv engine is built makes it a poor tuner engine. The high compression ratio makes mods like turbos and supes potentially hazardous. After market modifications to the engine without professional input are ill advised. Less hazardous mods like a cold air intake don't provide much added power, again because of the already

So in that unscientific poll 21.7% CX-9 owners were having coolant leak problem and got their 2.5T engine replaced. So assuming all SkyActiv-G 2.5T’s are created equal, we should see 21.7% of the CX-5’s with 2.5T are having the same issue. But in reality, we’ve only seen reports here on 2.5T CX-5 with low compression issue on certain
